Join me at the Opening Reception in Damariscotta

The annual River Arts Member’s Show, is opening this Saturday in Damariscotta. There is something for everyone in this salon-style show featuring 111 artists. The opening reception is Saturday, January 18th from 2-4 PM at River Arts and I plan to be there.

Robin’s painting, From Here to There and Back Again

I am showing my acrylic on canvas painting entitled “From Here to There (and back again) in the Member’s Show. With layered acrylic paint, dynamic movement, texture, and vibrant color, seeing this painting “in person” will wake you out of the winter doldrums. Local friends, consider yourself invited.

The Arc of the Moral Universe is Long, But it Bends Towards Justice, collage with printed and painted papers, 2024, private collection. This is the collage that inspired my painting, above entitled “From Here to There” which is featured in the Member’s Show at River Arts. The dimensions of my collage are somewhat different but the energy is similar.

Post-script–Art as pure joy

Many of us are wondering how we sustain ourselves during the transition to the second Trump administration. One suggestion I have is to seek out the arts, whatever artform gives you joy. But please stay engaged because we are all in this together.

…and if you can, save some energy for activism

This week, while driving up and down the coast visiting town offices from Woolwich to Cumberland, picking up petitions for the Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) citizen’s initiative, I listened to a podcast, one of my favorites, called “Wiser than Me.” For her last interview of 2024, Julia Louis Dreyfuss spoke with Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House Emeritus. Nancy Pelosi’s words, “I say to women–Know your Why, Know your power, be ready” are still resonating with me. “Know your Why. Know your power. Be ready, because you can’t miss that opportunity.” Let’s go! See you soon.

Love, Robin
