in-the-woods-acrylic-on-paper-collage-compressed-for-webThis is the one year anniversary of the discovery that my collage “In the Woods” was missing and presumed stolen from the Topsham Public Library where it was on view to the public.  While it was a disturbing experience, ultimately the theft of my collage motivated me to continue working.

My new work in monotype printmaking currently on view at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell, Maine–visit www.harlowgallery.org to learn more–continues my exploration of the Woods theme.   “One of a Kind” will continue through September 26, 2010.

On Thursday September 16 at 7 pm, the six “One of a Kind” artists will be at the gallery to present an artist talk and lively discussion about the art of the monotype print.

From September, 2009: >In the Woods, a 22″w x29″h framed collage painting, was one of five collage pieces on loan to the Topsham Public Library through September 11.  Today, Friday September 4, I went to the library to return a couple of paperbacks my son had borrowed when I discovered it was missing.  Library personnel could not locate the painting anywhere in the building and suggested that it could have been removed as early as Wednesday, September 2.  Whereabouts of the painting are unknown and a report has been filed with the Topsham Police Department.<
