Since transitioning to my new website, I have sorely neglected my blog.  I am excited to share some new work with you, along with some of the ideas and inspiration behind it.  Today I brought eight new pieces to my photographer, Christine Olmstead.   I am excited about venturing in some new directions with collage and layering.

My work in the print studio, especially making and printing collage plates, or collagraphs, has extended the language of my collage and mixed media work.   My newest series of collagraphs is called “Elemental.”  The title refers to the natural elements one finds near the ocean’s edge here in Maine–rocks, sand, water, and sky.

Our coastline, for those who live away, is more rocky than sandy.   Because of the many peninsulas, we have miles of coast that offer a rich variety of visual experiences.  I am captivated by the variety of these natural forces and how these elements interact.  You can see I am working with the spirit and not the reality of these forms and enjoying the language of abstraction.
