All art begins with movement–the movement of the artist’s hand drawing a paintbrush across the canvas, as well as the movement of ideas in the artist’s mind. In this ongoing series of abstract paintings, I allow for a dance between conscious intent and unconscious energy. Sometimes I begin with an intention, sketching out some gestural marks with charcoal. At other times, I simply allow the movement of my hand to suggest a direction. At times, the results reference elements from nature while at other times they are non-referential, simply evoking movement, spaces, and various energetics. This series is ongoing.
