Land and Sea at River Arts–A Group Exhibit Celebrating Maine’s Landscape

I entered two abstract black and white collages in the latest juried show at River Arts in Damariscotta. As a challenge I limited my palette to black and white papers. I asked myself how I might express the energies of land and sea in minimalist terms. If you look closely–zoom in- you will see many cut edges and layers in these black and white collages. Additionally, you may see more of this work in my gallery called Black and White.

Land and Sea Opening is Saturday July 11th from 2-4 PM at River Arts in Damariscotta

It’s always a good problem when a lot is happening simultaneously, but that’s what’s going on this weekend in my world. Generously, I volunteered to help out at Art in the Garden, a fundraiser for Maine Street Gardiner. Circling the Square Fine Art Press, has a booth at Art in the Garden and I offered to take a turn staffing our booth. So I may not make it to Damariscotta for the opening reception of Land and Sea.

In the spirit of land and sea and the gardens we love, here are two more artworks. The first one is my 2025 collage titled In the Garden. And the second piece, Tears of the Earth, is a recent abstract monotype print.

Good wishes for a weekend of art and nature

Wherever you find yourself this weekend–on land or near the sea– I hope you find some time to enjoy the nature around you. Perhaps you will find the time to take in some local art too. In closing, I want to remind those of you who live locally about my outdoor tai chi group. We meet up on Saturdays in July from 9 to 10 AM at the lovely and secluded Head of Tide Park in Topsham. There is no cost–just drop in when you can.
