The Foremothers Project Comes to Freeport, May 19th, 20th, and 21st

The Foremothers Project Art Exhibition at Meetinghouse Arts Gallery
I am excited to share the four amazing events coming to Freeport this month. My Foremothers Project will be at Meetinghouse Arts over the weekend of May 19, 20, and 21st, and we have a wonderful weekend planned. I will be installing 28 artworks from my “Stories of Our Foremothers” project at the Meetinghouse Arts Gallery.

My Pandemic Project —Exploring my foremothers
I began The Foremothers Project in the fall of 2020. Amazingly, the project has continued to broaden in scope, encompassing collage, painting, poetry, and storytelling. Most of the artworks will be for sale through the artist, with a portion of the sale price benefitting Grandmothers for Reproductive Rights, a pro-choice advocacy group based in Maine. The Meetinghouse Arts Gallery will be open from 10-6 on Friday with the opening reception beginning at 4 pm. And the exhibition will be on view Saturday from 10-5 and noon to 4 pm on Sunday, May 21st. Meetinghouse Arts is located at 40 Main St, Freeport, ME 04032. The Art of Memoir–Two Inspiring authors to speak at Meetinghouse Arts
On Friday and Saturday evening, the amazing events continue, with two authors to speak about their creative work and the art of memoir writing.

Monica Wood, When We Were the Kennedys, will be joining us on Friday at 7 pm. Tickets are $15-$25 and are available in advance here.

Rachael Cerrotti, We Share The Same Sky: A Memoir of Memory and Migration, will be joining us on Saturday at 7 pm. Tickets are $15-$25 and are available in advance here. Rachael’s two podcasts are We Share the Same Sky Podcast and The Memory Generation Podcast.
More Amazing News–Lisa Redfern will join us!
We are delighted to have Lisa Redfern, a wonderful Maine-based singer/songwriter, opening both author talks with some of her original songs that honor her foremothers.

Lisa Redfern is an award-winning singer and songwriter with 11 solo recordings. She has opened for some of her favorite performers: Dave Mallett, The Roches, Cindy Kallet and Pete Seeger. Lisa will be sharing two original songs that reflect the love she has for two of the most important women in her life: her mother Sandy and her maternal grandmother, Honey-both of whom have passed.

A Foremothers storytelling workshop on Saturday afternoon
Please join Robin Brooks and Penny Davis-Dublin at Meetinghouse Arts on Saturday the 20th from 2-4 pm to explore the art of storytelling. This workshop will include a special guest storyteller! In our two-hour workshop, we will explore the art of crafting a good story and share snippets of our own foremothers tales. *This event is free but pre-registration is recommended.
