Artist Residency at Acadia National Park

My Artist Residency at Acadia

In April of 2016, I was invited to spend fourteen days living and working at the Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park in Gouldsboro, Maine. The artworks and photos in this gallery are a sampling of the work I created during my time at Acadia. I packed art supplies for my hikes and forays into the woods and along the shoreline. Historically, the Schoodic region and all of Maine were the ancestral lands of the Wabanaki people, and this area remains a stunning and vital ecosystem today. I found the interface of rocky coastline, plant and animal life, water, and sky to be richly inspiring. As part of my obligation to the park, I donated one artwork from the residency. The painting I donated, entitled “Schoodic 1”, can be seen here. https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/acadia-air_brooks.htm and in-person in the dining hall at the Schoodic Institute (as of August 2023.)
