Time Outdoors– absorbing the healing energy of Nature
Aligning myself with summer’s energy can take many forms– from a cold plunge in the ocean, to tending my gardens, to some outdoor tai chi. Any time I spend outdoors is an invitation to absorb summer’s energy. This past weekend I had the good fortune to participate in a women’s hiking and paddling weekend in New Hampshire with a group called Women Outdoors. The photo, above, is from our Sunday paddle on the Pemigewasset River. We also did some hiking on Saturday along a stream in the woods. On our hike I was aware of the quiet of the woods and the music of the flowing water. I found the weekend to be a quiet respite from the ongoing flood of news and world events that I often find overwhelming and, at times, dispiriting.
Head of Tide Park–A serene spot for qigong

We can align ourselves with summer energy by practicing some gentle movement outdoors. I am happy we can practice qigong together on Saturday mornings, and you are welcome to join us. As I listen to my breathing and harmonize my energy, I am aware of the sound of the river tumbling over rocky ledges and down the falls as it merges with the tidal waters. We often see eagles and hawks and other wildlife at Head of Tide. Having nature all around us as we do our “Healer Within” practices is deeply nourishing and restorative.
Summer Qigong and Tai Chi practice update
I will be offering Saturday morning “Healer Within” qigong and Thursday morning tai chi on Zoom through the month of July. In August, I have some travel plans to visit and spend time with family. So all of my classes, both in person and on Zoom, will be on hiatus. You may email me for schedule updates: robinellenb@gmail.com. And for those of you who study with me at Merrymeeting Adult Education, our Tai Chi Easy™ and Continuing Tai Chi classes will resume in late September. Please look for the fall/winter catalog to appear both online and in print sometime in mid-summer.
Gratitude for our community
Thank you for being part of our tai chi and qigong community. Please be well, and enjoy aligning yourself with summer’s energy in ways that nourish you best–body, mind, and spirit. Love, Robin
